Golden age detective novels...
« on: November 28, 2007, 01:37:21 PM »
I have always wanted to read some of these but never have. I've seen
The Big Sleep, Maltese Falcon, etc. movies... but have been wanting a little more.

Anybody read these? Have some good suggestions for a newb like me.  :smile

Is Mickey Spillane "Golden Age?"  I'm not sure what Golden Age covers...

But I recommend his "The Big Kill" or "I, The Jury," and "My Gun is Quick."  I think a couple of those were turned into movies, too, but can't vouch for their quality.

Thanks Curtis. That sounds great. It's those crime noir gritty detective stuff.
I think I would like to try and read a couple of them.

I have read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories and most of Hercul Poirot when I was young. I don't know if they are "Golden Age" but they are definitely classics.
