Welcome to Eyeskream's second
anniversary contest!
This year the contest
is not only for the Eyeskream members, but is also open to ALL other
webcomics artists as well.
We have over 200$ worth
of prizes to give, like a Wacom Tablet, an Eyeskream
T-Shirt and a One Year subscription to Zoinks! Magazine!
And that's not all!
If you ever wanted to
become an Eyeskream member, but were always affraid to go thru the
voting process, well then this contest is for you, because we will
also give a Free Eyeskream membership pass. This
means if you choose this prize, you will become a full time
Eyeskream member.
I say choose
because there is no first or second prizes. We will select four
winners and they will pick one after the other a prize of their
choice. Naturally, the winners will choose according of their
winning rank. So if the best strip winner already has a Wacom
Tablet, he or she can choose the T-Shirt or the Free Eyeskream member pass
or.. well you get the picture.
This year I will not
be the only one with the hard task of selecting the best strip. I
will have the help of three other people. The jury will consist
of me along Daku and Zampzon of "Digital
Strips" and also of Bill Charbonneau who is the
publisher of the "Zoinks! Magazine".
So what do I have
to do to get the chance to win all these great prizes, you ask?
Simple! Do what you already do best for years: draw a webcomic
strip. The theme of the strip will be :
"Erik's
day at the Eyeskream office, or how to manage a webcomic group!"
Naturally there are
some rules to follow :
#1: You must
draw something similar to the Eyeskream office (mind you, that is my basement
to be precise). The more details and objects found in my office
that are contained in your strip, the more chances you have to win. Click
here to see some photos of my
basement and of me. Please save them on your computer to help save me
some bandwidth. You can email me and ask for any particular item if you
are wondering what it is.
#2: You must
include me, Erik Bouchard, in the strip since I am the manager. Thus you must
naturally draw me. You can make a cruel caricature or a faithful
drawing. I am 6'1 and weight 160 pounds. You can see some
pictures of my ugly faces along the Eyeskream office photo links.
#3: You must
also draw at least three Eyeskream characters from our actual
members roosters. This can be The Flying Ferret, Cy-Boar, Mel of
Hellbound, or any other characters you like. You can draw all
of them if you like, but remember, you must absolutely draw a
minimum of three.
#4: The strip
must be in color and have a minimum of 5 panels. Draw as many pages
you like of 450x900 pixels size. This mean you can have 1 page with
5 panels on it, or you could have 4 pages with 8 panels, or as many
panels and pages you can draw. There is no limit in length.
#5: You have
up to April 1st to send your submission. All strips receive
after that date will not be considered. Simply send it to :
erik@eyeskream.com
#6: As for the story, well it's up to
you. You can invent anything you like as long as it matches the theme in some way.
For example my office can be
on the moon, or you can make me deal with new webcomic members that
have just been accepted in Eyeskream. Overall, you must make me
deal with all the things that a manager of a webcomic group must
face each day. Things like :
- Planning to go to a Convention
- Making some advertisements
- Dealing with new or old members
- Making an Eyeskream comic book
- Compiling votes for new members
- Always looking for the best hosting prices
- Hosting members (Setting accounts)
- Organizing events (Swap day, Joint Venture)
- Dealing with hackers
- Managing the Eyeskream website and forum
- Be sure that all members follow the Eyeskream
rules
- Don't forget to go to work
- Making podcasts and magazine interviews
- Finding new (and free) ways to promote the group
- Posting on the forum
- Dealing with angry members
- etc.
A good example of this would be the strip of Bev, creator of
Chooken.
Last year he have win our first contest and he come up with this:
Bev strip
But keep in mind that
it is me and not the Eyeskream logo that you must draw. However, you might think
it would be a good idea for the Eyeskream eye to help me in my
office, managing the Eyeskream group. He could be a sort of "imaginary
friend". But I better stop, I don't want to give you to many ideas.
If you have any questions, don't be
afraid to
email me. You can also go on the
Eyeskream forum. I have created a special forum just for the contest.
